Description: ज़ीउस vs पोसीडॉन | Zeus vs Poseidon in Hindi | ग्रीक पौराणिक कथाओं | Greek Mythology | 13+ Today we take a look at Zeus Vs Poseidon in Hindi #Zeus #ZeusVsPoseidon #Mythology #GreekMythology Story :You may think that petty issues like sibling rivalry would affect only us mere mortals. Wrong. Even the gods of Ancient Greece were not spared from them, although the scale of it was a bit larger. After saving his siblings from their father, Cronus, Zeus led a rebellion against him. What ensued was the Titanomachy, or the battle between Zeus’ rebels and the Titans who were loyal to Cronus. The war continued for a decade and the Titans were defeated at the hands of zeus and his brothers. Zeus was a fairly young god to be given the title of the ruler of all the gods and men. Soon he became drunk with power and this didn’t sit well with his brothers; especially Poseidon. Poseidon is the youngest of Zeus’ brothers and probably the most violent and ill-tempered. After the titanomachy, Poseidon was given domain over the seas and is often depicted as carrying his trident on a four horse chariot over the seas. The tales of Poseidon's power and wrath are innumerous throughout history, but perhaps the most famous of them would be the great flood. Mankind had flourished under the gods on earth for several millennia. Gifted with skills that distinguished man from the other animals, he soon turned on nature itself. The earth was ruled by man’s greed and peace had become a thing of the past. This angered zeus to no end. He summoned his brother Poseidon and asked him to flood the earth and kill all of mankind and everything that mankind stood for. Poseidon abided by the supreme god’s request and struck his trident on the ground creating cracks in the earth through which water gushed out and began flooding the earth. Men drowned by the millions in the giant waves that Poseidon sent upon the cursed earth; vessels were overturned by his wrath and destroyed. Poseidon’s destruction of the earth continued for 9 days and 9 nights and all but some of the men survived the cataclysm. Poseidon is also known for his ill-tempered ways. unable to bear the arrogant ways of his brother zeus, Poseidon stole Zeus’ thunderbolt while he was asleep and tied him up in a hundred knotted cords. But Zeus was freed in no time by a hundred handed giant and he decided to punish Poseidon for his treachery. Poseidon was sent to serve the Trojan King, Laomedon, for whom he built the huge and beautiful walls surrounding the city of Troy. But when the time for payment came, Laomedon turned a deaf ear. This angered Poseidon so much so that he fought on the Greek side during the Trojan war; even after Zeus had warned him not to. But being the narcissist that he was, later Poseidon destroyed all the fortifications built by the Greeks stating that only the walls that he built are worthy of remaining. Not a very nice move i’d say. His tales of anger and wrath don’t stop there. Poseidon had even picked a fight with Athena, Zeus’ daughter. Greed had taken over Poseidon when he saw the rich city of Athens and decided to obtain it from Athena. Claiming that the city will have more benefit from him than her, he struck his trident into a rock creating a seawater stream that welled up in the temple of Athena. Athena however planted an olive tree to overcome the water and when the first king of Athens saw this, he decided that Athena’s gift was more useful since it gave fruit, wood and oil. Athena then got to keep athens for herself and the olive branch has since been the universal symbol of peace.
